I am marking work reports again this term, even though I am spending my time in Toronto instead of Waterloo. This is not a biggie really, a minor inconvenience, because I can batch up the work reports, collect them one day, and spend the remaining 6 weeks marking them before having to hand them in. Plus, word is that they increased the pay per report. So this being my fourth term marking, and I get at least $250 per term, that’s a dSLR right there!

Of course, things don’t always go as planned. The wrinkle this term came from the work report coordinator. He sent me an email last Friday telling me that I had been assigned a work report that I needed to mark ASAP. He wanted it done this weekend. The reason was that the work report was a 400 level and blocking someone’s convocation. So I fired off an email, within 5 minutes of receiving the original email, saying that that was pretty much undoable. I wasn’t in Waterloo, and didn’t plan on being there for awhile.

I got no reply, which I guess wasn’t too surprising because it was Friday at noon. So being a responsible work report marker, I followed up with an email on Monday morning. I didn’t get a reply the entire week! I guess it wasn’t so urgent.

Anyways, I finally made it into Waterloo today and marked the report. I gave the report a Satisfactory, because it really wasn’t that good (maybe even resubmit worthy). Although, from the tone of the coordinator’s email, it does sound like I needed to pass it quickly so the writer could convocate!
