why are the songs by this timberlake fellow so damn catchy? everytime i hear a new track by j.lake, i can’t get over how crappy it sounds. you got some lyrics, you got some beats, and a little instrumentation here and there but where’s the melody? where are the catchy hooks for the common denominator? and the complex contrapuntal harmonies? well pop music is a little less rich than classical music, but justin’s music sounds excessively thin. his producers must’ve wanted to give our ears a break from the usual fattening pop cheese and just layered his acapella over beats. but that’s the thing, i listen to pop for the cheese and i’ll pity my obese ears when i’m older. all of his new songs seem to me like they’re half a song! but after a few more listens, they become undeniably catchy and you can’t help but want to get your groove on when they come on.
