This post is to complain about the Black Eyed Peas, you know the one with Fergie, Will.i.am and the native indian guy. I’m so frustrated that they come out with these pop songs with catchy hooks but in truth the songs actually suck (I suspect this is also the MO of Lady Gaga). Take I Gotta Feeling, when I first heard it I thought it was an almost perfectly manufactured pop song. Then I took a break from the radio to listen to some CDs and now that I’m back listening to the radio, I Gotta Feeling is no longer good. It doesn’t pump me up, nor is it catchy anymore. Its just your normal, unspectacular top-4o hit.

This was not the first time. Fergie sings a great hook on Don’t Phunk With My Heart, until I actually had the song on CD when I realized that 1) the hook and thus song is is not that catchy, and 2) Fergie can’t sing for beans. Sure I own Fergie’s debut CD, the Duchess, but its really just for giggles. It’s not up there with the good pop albums.

Since I was bitten once, I am not fooled by BEP’s latest single Meet Me Halfway. Fergie again sings a passable hook, but once you get past that, you realized they wrote the song with only two notes!!

In summary, don’t be fooled; they are a no-talent hack. You might as well listen to Lady Gaga since at least you get an oddball personality!
