i finally found confirmation of a suspicion i had a couple of months ago. i didn’t believe that nelly could’ve wrote the song dilemma as it seemed way more sophisticated than any of his other songs (but then i’m biased). i first got tipped off when i heard a dance track using the same sample called hungry for your love; and after a little google-ing, i found out that it’s a sample from patti labelle‘s love, need and want you that kelly rowland sings.

actually it’s pretty funny, they’re remixing (is this the dance genre’s term for remaking?) hits from the early nineties and releasing them again. it’s good to hear snap, ice mc, real mccoy once more…but only if they’re not butchered (which unfortunately, is not the case).

just cuz i’m on the subject, not too impressed about the new dancified version of michael jackson’s billie jean either. hit songs usually get it right the first time, i wish people would stop redoing them.
