One of the reasons MySpace became so popular was because every band, big or small, had a MySpace page (or is it the reverse?). In any case, MySpace is the stomping grounds for music nerds to listen to songs. I never bought into it and actually don’t go to MySpace when I want to quickly listen to a song.
Instead, my preferred website of choice is YouTube. It doesn’t have ever song, and actually it’s missing a lot, but I’d much rather watch a video of a song than have the song play while I’m browsing an artist’s page on MySpace.
Aside from the fact that the music selection on YouTube is a small subset of MySpace, there are two other fatally annoying things about YouTube. First, there are a ton of “music videos” which consist of the song accompanying a slideshow of photos of the artist. No doubt this is the result of the popular of Macs and iMovie. Secondly, there are videos of fans singing/playing a cover of the original song. I’m sorry but the site is specifically not called MySpace.
