i’ve been building a fully dynamic (backend) version of my site the last few days which led me to revisit a list apart to look for some ideas that i had seen there before. it’s a pretty good site to read if you’ve just started down the website building road; it’s mainly a best practices thing – they have lots of articles with advice on how to do things. best of all, it covers a wide range of topics from usability to technologies to webpublishing.
one of their articles, how to write a better blog captured some of the struggles that i go thru when blogging. after blogging for almost 2 years, i still haven’t really found a writing style that i’m comfortable with. i think my style’s improved for the better (improved = more comfortable) when compared with my early entries, but i still haven’t found the fine line between quasi-professional writing and wuteva ppl call dat web stylez of writin’.
they say that blogging lets you spread your gospel to the world, but it’s also a way to practice writing. as a child, i was no story teller; i had trouble constructing a story that was interesting to the listener regardless if the event was or not. even thru my schooling, i never had a chance to develop this sort of ability, it was always formal, argumentive writing. so i guess this is my chance and you guys are my guinea pigs.
