there’s an mpeg floating around the net of a tetris final from japan. it is absolutely amazing. you don’t actually see the pieces appear at the top of the screen, they just end up at the desired location. i don’t know if the speed is set so that the blocks fall incredibly fast or if the person playing has such control over the down button that they can make the blocks fall till the bottom without sticking and still have time to rotate them before they’re stuck. it’s not even that ability that gets me, it’s the fact that they know instantly where the next piece is going to go; they prolly played enough so that they know instinctively where to put the pieces in order to acheive tetris, but they also know where to put the pieces even if they screwed up.

wow, i just realized that i only have three more weeks of school left until finals.
