I’m of the philosophy that if you’re trying to friend someone on Facebook who you haven’t had contact with in a few years, or that you have a weak link with anyways, that you should at the very least have a profile photo that clearly shows your face. It is after all called FACEbook and not a-small-picture-of-you-in-the-distance-book; you can’t expect everyone to have a crystal clear memory of everyone they’ve met. Failing that, don’t restrict your profile so that none of your affiliation information is shown. If I don’t recognize your name, maybe seeing that you were part of the same organization as me at some point would spark my memory.
