Well the Leafs have started taking my offseason plan to heart. They got rid of Quinn (#1), Domi (#4), Belfour (1/3rd of #3) and have started shoring up their defensemen (#6). I like the signing of Gill and it seems a fair price for a person of his calibre, but I am rather confused by the $5 million we’re paying to Pavel Kubina per year and the Raycroft trade for Raask. I had Kubina in my pool at the beginning, but I dropped him because he pretty much sucked. I can’t see him making just slightly less than McCabe and more than Kaberle. Raycroft on the other hand, I think is a good acquisition, but trading a blue-chip prospect for a third string goalie (Boston has a lot of mediocre goalies) is not a good play.
All in all, it looks like they have so far implement 3 and a third of my 7 point plan, with 2 of those points undoable during the offseason. Of course they did decide to sign Antropov, so they are sending mixed signals.
