christmas sucks. you have those holidays like secretaries day that you know are there just to benefit hallmark and the ilk, but while christmas used to have a meaning and still does in some traditional way (ie family time); it’s become more and more a way for business to reach their sales targets for the year. maybe this generation of baby boomers received too many gifts when they were babies or something, but it’s all about the giving gift and not about the spreading of cheer anymore. you can tell this gift giving thing is only done out of responsibility now when so many people are running around scratching their heads figuring out what to give other people. how many people do you know who actually want to give gifts if there wasn’t a social pressure to do so? perhaps i’m being cynical or maybe it’s because i’m not 5 years old anymore.

and my coworkers think i’m a scrooge, but i have no idea how they get that impression of me! actually another weird random thing was when i was walking back from skating today, i was pseudo-singing random things and some guy walking along the street started talking to me and asked how the skating was. he seemed pretty normal (although didn’t have any skates with him) so i guess i was the weird guy, or maybe he thought i was just caroling…badly.
