Some days, when I don’t have any meetings, I feel like I’m the only person in the office. I think the cubicles and carpets here are built with some super sound absorbing material such that ambient noise is just swallowed up. I’m one cubicle away from a hallway but I never hear anyone walking past, unless they’re walking right past my cubicle. I’m used to a cacophony of keyboard and mouse clicks but even those are hard to hear unless you’re trying to listen for them. There are, of course, the overheard conversations; but it seems as though people keep that to a minimum by scheduling meetings. So all in all, it is a very quiet environment.
Don’t get me started about the eating area once you turn the corner though, it’s like chinatown.
