Am I the only one who thinks that Shoppers Drug Mart is becoming the Starbucks of Canada? They’re not on EVERY street corner, but they are appearing much more frequently than before. Ever since the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan bought them, they’ve re-imaged their store front and started this expansion trend. I get the feeling that they’re trying to muscle out their competition, you know pharmacies, dollar stores, supermarkets, department stores, walmart … what exactly does Shoppers sell nowadays anyways? Is that why they can have so many stores?
