I haven’t done any video blogs since my short foray into video blogging. It’s hard to do, and it takes forever to say what you want to say compared to typing out the words. I came across this problem again, not in terms of video blogging, but at work. I’ve been using this neat application, Camtasia to record some demos of the work I’ve been doing. I didn’t have a mic so I just settled for recording the screen.

Eventually, I borrowed a mic off someone and started recording a voiceover for my videos. I wrote a script out first so I would flub less when I was talking (although that didn’t seem to work that well), but I found that it was difficult to cover everything I wrote before the mouse did its own thing and moved on! So I ended up cutting a lot of information out and speaking quicker and quicker.

So in the future, try and record voiceovers before doing the video, or do them at the same time or expect to say very little.
