i’ve been keeping my eye on developments in the pocket pc world because i’ve been preparing to buy one eventually. actually it’s been a goal of mine to not get one as it probably wouldn’t be all that useful, but it’s really hard not to buy something you want when you can afford it. newayz, i never figured a pda to be of much use, i don’t have enought ‘contacts’ that i would need to carry all their information around, all i really need are phone numbers and my mobile serves that purpose quite nicely. i’ve never really used a planner so i can’t see myself starting to do that just because i have a pda. on the other hand, i think that i would find uses for the notetaking abilities of a pda (which is kind of counter-intuitive for me if you think about it) just to keep track of my lists (ie what cds/dvds i need to buy). the really deal clincher for me is the ability to read .txt and .pdf files. i guess i liked this idea at the time because i wasn’t listening to my discman, but it would have been great if i could read stuff on the commute to work (without having to carry around books). so realizing that i mainly only wanted to do those two things, it’s kind of an overkill to get a pocket pc. well, that’s not really the truth, there’s one more reason i want a pocket pc and that’s for its wireless abilities. but when you think about it, a pda that can do what i want goes for less than $300 while a pocket pc will go for above $700. that’s a $400 premium for wireless! stupid techlust, i couldn’t think straight! newayz if all goes well i’ll have a low end clie to play with soon. i was thinking, wouldn’t it be nice if for once it gets cooler as the summer progresses? the weather’s been pretty weird so it’s not that unlikely…
