After Wintercity, we headed up to Bb33 Bistro for dinner. I had been there last year and remembered that it wasn’t very popular for Winterlicious, so I didn’t really want to go there; but because it was so damn difficult to secure a reservation anywhere else, it was better than not doing Winterlicious. The fact that we could just show up and walk in on a Saturday night wasn’t a great portent either.

I started with the cheesy Bb33 Soup of the day (Tomato soup) and Pauline had the generic salad (Tender Winter Greens with Belgium Endive and Sweet cherry Tomatoes, White Balsamic Dressing). I followed with the Red Wine and Herb Marinated Supreme of Chicken served with Cumin Scented Basmati Rice and Sautéed French Beans, Portobello Mushroom and Thyme Reduction (note the lack of plural, there was exactly 1 mushroom) which was not bad. Pauline had the Black Olive and Caper Tapenade crusted Bay of Fundy Salmon served with Sweet Basil Pesto and Goat Cheese Studded Spun Potato, Charred Vegetables, Lemongrass Infused Tomato Coulis. Somehow, the kitchen read our order as 4 Salmons, so we had to wait an extra 15 or so for the chickens to be brought out.

Bb33 really likes their glass dessert cups because both our desserts were in the same cups as last year. Pauline had the White Chocolate Trifle Martini and I had the Dessert of the day which was much a combination of Jello, brownie bits, chocolate syrup, marshmellows and strawberries.

I don’t think this meal was worth it because the appetizer and dessert didn’t add enough value. If it wasn’t Winterlicious, I would have just ordered the entree which would have been less than $25. Plus the restaurant decor and service was pretty generic.
